Years ago, while visiting Tybee Island, Georgia (during the off-season), I was walking along the beach when I noticed an older gentleman walking ahead of me with a bag strapped over his shoulder. What struck me about the gentleman was that he was wearing overalls! On the beach…
As I’m prone to do from time to time, I started wondering about his life. Was this something he had done with a loved one, and this was his way of reconnecting? Did he do this as part of an annual trip, or was it an everyday occurrence? Regardless of the answer to these and other questions in my mind, the image of that old man seeking seashells entered the recesses of my memory to later come out through the creative process that produced this watercolor.
